Shahjahanpur: DM asks Khandsari units to pay farmers directly into their bank accounts
Shahjahanpur District Magistrate Dharmendra Pratap Singh instructed sugar mills and khandsari units to ensure 100% payment of cane prices to farmers via e-transactions directly into their bank accounts. During a review meeting, concerns were raised about khandsari units making payments in cash. Singh also emphasized regular meetings and inspections for pollution control and product quality improvement.
Shahjahanpur: District Magistrate Dharmendra Pratap Singh directed the sugar mills and khandsari units to ensure that they clear 100% payment of cane prices to farmers through e-transactions directly into their bank accounts, reported Live Hindustan. He was speaking during a review meeting on the operation of Khandsari chaired by him. During the meeting, the Assistant Sugar Commissioner reported that khandsari units are making payments for cane purchases in cash rather than through online methods.
DM also instructed that monthly meetings be held with khandsari unit operators and sugarcane farmers to run awareness campaigns. Furthermore, he emphasized that khandsari units and traditional mills producing jaggery from poor-quality sugar and causing pollution should be inspected by a team coordinated with the Pollution Department and FSDA.
