The National Youth Service (NYS) has selected 100 young Namibians from all 14 regions for a five-month training program in charcoal and biomass production. The initiative, aimed at addressing youth unemployment, includes three months of theoretical learning and two months of hands-on experience. Trainees will receive qualifications in biomass production, medical aid certificates, and a monthly allowance. After the program, participants will work in the industry for 12 months.

The National Youth Service (NYS) has chosen 100 young individuals from all 14 regions for training in the charcoal and biomass production sector. reported New Era Live.

NYS, which aims to provide personal development programs and create job opportunities for Namibians aged 16 to 35, announced earlier this month that it was accepting registrations for charcoal production training. A total of 100 participants were selected nationwide, with an average of seven individuals from each region.

The registration process was open to both former and current NYS trainees, as well as all unemployed Namibian youth interested in pursuing careers in charcoal and biomass production.

Commissioner Felix Musukubili stated that the training program will last for five months, consisting of three months of theoretical instruction followed by two months of hands-on training.

Given the high unemployment rates among Namibian youth, this program presents a valuable opportunity for personal development and skill enhancement. After completing the training, participants will engage in industry work for 12 months.

“The trainees will receive recognized qualifications in biomass and charcoal production, as well as certificates in medical aid. Additionally, they will be provided with a monthly allowance during the training period,” Musukubili added.
