South Korean mills purchase about 50,000 tonnes of wheat from the US

South Korean mills purchased around 50,000 tons of U.S. milling wheat at an international auction for shipment between December 15, 2025, and January 15, 2026. Purchases included 18,980 tons of soft white wheat ($226.33/ton FOB), 10,280 tons of hard red winter wheat ($231.02/ton), and 20,740 tons of dark northern spring wheat ($254.80/ton). Canadian wheat offers were not purchased.

European traders reported that a group of South Korean mills purchased an estimated 50,000 tons of milling grain to be sourced in the United States at an international auction on Wednesday.

The 45,000 tonnes of Canadian wheat that was also requested were not believed to have been purchased.

The U.S. purchases included several wheat varieties and were all purchased on a FOB basis.

The tender requested shipment between December 15th, 2025 and January 15th, 2026. The seller was thought to be Bunge Trading House.

Traders said that the U.S. purchased 18,980 tonnes of soft white wheat with a maximum protein content of 9.5% to 11%, bought at a price of $226.33 per ton FOB.

The traders also said that 10,280 tons were purchased at $231.02 per ton of hard red winter grain with a minimum of 11.5% protein and 20,740 tonnes of dark northern spring rye wheat with a minimum of 14% protein at $254.80 per ton of FOB.

Traders said that the lowest price in terms of outright prices for 45,000 tonnes of Canadian 13.5% Protein Wheat of Type Canada Western Red Spring Number 2 (2CWRS), was estimated to be $255.63 per ton FOB during the period of January 1-15.
