State-wise monthly sugar quota for sale in June 2025

The Food Ministry has allocated 23 LMT of sugar for June 2025 to 581 mills, down from 25.50 LMT in June 2024 and 23.5 LMT in May 2025. With last June’s consumption at 24.10 LMT, experts predict bearish market sentiment due to the lower allocation, which may indicate expectations of weak demand or controlled supply.

In an announcement on May 30, the Food Ministry allocated a monthly sugar quota of 23 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) to 581 sugar mills for June 2025, which is lower than the quota allocated for June 2024.

In June 2024, the government had allocated a monthly sugar quota of 25.50 LMT for domestic sale. For May 2025, the allocation of sugar quota was 23.5 LMT.

According to market experts, with the announcement of 23 LMT, the market sentiments are expected to remain bearish. Last year, in June, sugar consumption was 24.10 LMT.
