Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as Sensex falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading lower on Wednesday at 11:04AM EID Parry(India)Ltd.(up 5.83%), Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd.(up 1.49%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Ltd.(up 0.72%), Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd.(up 0.65%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(up 0.56%), Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd.(up 0.33%) and Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd.(up 0.06%) were among the top gainers. DCM Shriram Industries Ltd.(down 2.44%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd.(down 2.10%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries Ltd.(down 1.94%), Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd.(down 1.84%), Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 1.07%), Rana Sugars Ltd.(down 1.01%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(down 0.98%), Mawana Sugars Ltd.(down 0.97%), Sakthi Sugars Ltd.(down 0.89%) and KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd.(down 0.85%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 98.05 points down at 24237.95, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 371.11 points at 80313.34 at around 11:04AM. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd.(up 2.41%), Cipla Ltd.(up 1.84%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 1.24%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.96%), Reliance Industries Ltd.(up 0.74%), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 0.73%), Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 0.65%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.62%), Trent Ltd.(up 0.58%) and Wipro Ltd.(up 0.47%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 2.05%), Bharat Electronics Ltd.(down 1.92%), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.88%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 1.41%), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 1.31%), NTPC Ltd.(down 1.22%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 1.18%), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.13%), JSW Steel Ltd.(down 0.97%) and Coal India Ltd.(down 0.95%) were trading in the red.
