Sugar Industry Tribunal announces cane payment for Friday

Fiji’s sugarcane farmers will receive a $12.22 per tonne payment on Friday, the third for the 2024 season, bringing the total to $69.63 per tonne. The Sugar Industry Tribunal reports growers’ net proceeds at $133.9 million as of March 28. The industry supports 20% of Fiji’s population, per the Ministry of Sugar’s report.

Sugar cane farmers are to receive a $12.22 per tonne of cane payment on Friday, the Sugar Industry Tribunal has announced.
This will be the third cane payment for 2024 season.
The $12.22 per tonne of payment will bring the total amount to $69.63 per tonne of cane payment for the 2024 season.
Farmers have already been paid $43.06 per tonne for delivery payment and 414.35 per tonne as second cane payment.
The Sugar Industry Tribunal states as of March 28, the net share of the sugarcane growers cane proceeds is $133,937,226.
