Kolhapur News : While the price of sugar is increasing naturally according to the market demand, the central government is restricting the increase in the price of sugar. Citing pressure from consumers, the Center has been trying to keep sugar prices from increasing for the past two months.

The Center has started war level efforts to ensure that the price of sugar does not increase in the domestic market under any circumstances. Due to this, the manufacturers who were expecting a rise in the price of sugar have received a big shock. For the past few months, efforts by the sugar industry to increase the price of sugar have failed.

The sugar industry across the country is demanding that the minimum selling price (MSP) of sugar should be at least Rs 3800. At the central level, the delegation of many factories gave statements to the ministers and officials and rejected this demand.

But looking at the current policy of the Center, it is clear that the Center is unable to meet this demand. The Center has started monitoring every factory to ensure that there is no increase in the price of sugar till Diwali.

For the first time, the Center has announced a strong stance on factories. The Center has started devising pressure mechanisms at various levels to ensure that no factory sells more sugar than the given stock. It has also forced the factories to submit bills including GST to the Centre.

A stricter policy was adopted after some factories were found to have sold sugar in excess of the given stock despite showing stock on paper. The central government is constantly giving assurance to the consumers in various ways that there is sufficient stock of sugar in the country.

Ganeshotsav in Maharashtra and huge sugar purchase is expected for Dussehra in other states. It is estimated that there will be a huge purchase of sugar from all over the country for Diwali which is coming within 15 days after this.

If there is actually no sugar in the country, then the artificial price increase may affect the consumers. This may lead to a lot of criticism from the customers at the center. Keeping this in mind, the Center has adopted a policy of keeping information on the sale of sugar . However, it seems that the factories are not interested in this matter.

Additional restrictions of the Centre

The increase in the price of sugar is minimal compared to other foods. Sugar is not essential. In spite of this, a factory has alleged that the Center is imposing additional restrictions on sugar mills for marginal price hike.

The sugar industry is asking that if sugar prices are increasing due to natural conditions and it is benefiting the factories and in turn the farmers, then why is the Center obstructing it? The manufacturers are already worried due to the non-increase in the expected rates in April and May, which are important for the industry.

Factory circles are alleging that the Center has adopted a policy of sacking the factory workers when the balance sheet of the factories is likely to improve with a slight rate hike.
