Kolhapur News : Due to festive days and talk of shortage of sugar in the market, the price of sugar is increasing in the wholesale and retail markets. At present the factories are getting Rs 3600 to Rs 3650 per quintal ex-factory. On the assumption that the price of sugar will increase, efforts are being made by some elements of the market to store sugar and sell it at a higher price in the future. Factories are getting rates up to Rs 3650 per quintal. The same sugar is being sold in the wholesale and retail markets up to Rs. 4000. The difference between the price received by the factories and consumers is Rs 300 to Rs 350 per quintal. This amount is getting to the middle chain.

For the last one month, the central government has been keeping an eye on the sale of sugar. Information on sugar sales is being sought from the factories with receipts including GST. From the last fifteen days, an environment is being created in which sugar will become expensive at the commercial level. Many factories are continuously demanding sugar through tenders. Due to festivals, there is a possibility of good demand for sugar in the coming days. Many traders are buying sugar in the tenders by raising the price somewhat. Efforts are being made to buy as much sugar as possible, store it and sell it in the market at a higher price.

By creating an environment that sugar has become expensive, the prices of sugar have increased as sugar has started to be sold in the market from 3900 to 4000 rupees in some cases. Although the prices have increased in the market, the factories are not getting prices above Rs 3650, the factory representatives informed. The price up to 4000 rupees is available only to the entities working between the factory and the consumer. The demand is increasing on the assumption that the festival will bring demand. For the past two months, factories have been trying to end the quota. However, since the demand for sugar is increasing in the last few days, it was said from the sugar industry that the fixed quota for September will be fulfilled easily.
