Sugarcane Cultivation: Sugarcane cultivation on one lakh 63 thousand hectares in Nanded division this year
Nanded News : One lakh 63 thousand 855 hectares will be available for sugarcane cultivation in four districts of Nanded division for the sugarcane season 2023-2024. The Nanded Regional Joint Director (Sugar) office has informed that the online registration for the refining license for the private and cooperative sugar mills in the division is going on for the next season.
In the Nanded Regional Joint Director (Sugar) Division during the sieving season 2023-2024, an estimated 30 to 35 sugar factories in Nanded, Latur, Parbhani and Hingoli districts are likely to start up in the upcoming sieving season. It will include private and cooperative sugar mills. The season is likely to start in the month of October in the region.
For this, the sugarcane area available for sieving in the department has been determined jointly by the factories and the agriculture department. Farmers have registered 3 lakh 6 thousand 975 hectares area with the factories for the next season in the department.
While the Agriculture Department has estimated sugarcane cultivation on one lakh 41 thousand 207 hectares. While the Department of Agriculture and the Office of the Joint Director of Sugar have jointly fixed sugarcane cultivation on 1 lakh 66 thousand 855 hectares. In the division, the productivity of sugarcane in Nanded and Hingoli districts is 70 tons per hectare, Parbhani district is 60 tons, and Latur district is 72 tons.
Forecast of production decline in the next season
Prolonged rains in June followed by heavy rains have adversely affected the growth of sugarcane this year. In many places there has been an infestation of woolen wool. As a result, production in the sector is projected to decline during the season 2023-2024.

The Office of the Regional Joint Director (Sugar) has estimated that a total of 1 crore 12 lakh 98 thousand metric tonnes of sugarcane will be sifted from Latur, Hingoli, Nanded and Parbhani districts of Nanded division in the coming season. It is estimated that 23 lakh 96 thousand tons of sugarcane will be crushed in Nanded district, 12 lakh 77 thousand tons in Hingoli district, 33 lakh 48 thousand tons in Parbhani district and 45 lakh 74 thousand tons in Latur district.
