Sugarcane ryots demand in-depth probe

Canacona: Sugarcane growers of Canacona have demanded an in-depth inquiry into the management of the Sanjivani Karkhana at Dharbandora following its closure three months ago.
“We are demanding an inquiry into the sugarcane production by Goan farmers in the year 2017-18. We want to know where the produce was utilised,” said facilitation committee member Prashant Purushottam Gauns Dessai.
Gauns Dessai said that permission is taken to transport Goa’s produce to one factory. However, he claimed that it ended up at another factory. tnn
