Agriculture Minister Dith Tina inspected flood damage in Kampong Thom’s Kampong Svay district, where rice crops are severely affected. He met with farmers, discussed disaster relief, and explored measures to prevent further water damage. Officials are working to mitigate losses, while farmers are urgently harvesting to minimize financial impact.

The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Dith Tina, accompanied by Nuon Pharath, Governor of Kampong Thom province, and several officials, inspected the flood situation yesterday and sought measures to stop it in order to save the rice crops of farmers in Kampong Thom’s Kampong Svay district, which are ripening for harvest but have been severely affected by flooding.

During the mission, the minister met with farmers affected by the floods, which they had spent a lot of money to grow rice but were damaged by the floods.

The officials of the Ministry from the national level to the sub-national level, as well as commune agriculture officials, together with the provincial authorities, have made every effort to minimise the damage to people’s rice crops as much as possible.

The Minister examined the possibility that the government can help farmers when faced with natural disasters and collaborate with all appropriate authorities to help prevent water from entering the rice harvesting area. Farmers, on the other hand, are rushing to harvest rice from the floodwaters in order to reduce their financial losses before the harvesting period truly begins.
