Ukraine remains a key global food supplier despite the war, providing 46% of world sunflower oil exports and over 12% of global corn. Officials said 66 million tons of food have been shipped since the invasion. This season, Ukraine has exported 5.8 million tons of wheat and is a top-six chicken exporter.

Despite the war, Ukraine remains one of the leading participants in the global food market. In the current season, the country provides 46% of the world’s sunflower oil exports and over 12% of the world’s corn supplies.

This was stated by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko during the opening of the IV International Food Security Summit “Food from Ukraine”.

“Four years ago, immediately after the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine launched the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian initiative. More than 20 million vulnerable people in Africa and the Middle East could be provided with food from Ukraine. We supplied food even when our ports were hit and blocked,” the Prime Minister noted.

Svyrydenko added that since the beginning of the war, Ukraine has sent over 66 million tons of food to countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksiy Sobolev clarified that in the current marketing year (July 2025 – June 2026), Ukraine has already exported 5.8 million tons of wheat, and is also among the TOP-6 world exporters of chicken.
