Ukraine’s share in sunflower oil imports to EU reaches almost 90%

Ukraine plays a critical role in EU agri imports, supplying around 50% of corn imports and nearly 90% of sunflower oil. Kernel CEO Yevgeny Osypov said Ukraine and the EU are complementary partners, forming a stable, efficient agri-trade system rather than competing markets.

About 50% of corn imports to the EU are Ukrainian, and Ukraine’s share in sunflower oil imports to Europe reaches almost 90%. This was reported by the Kernel press service.

“If you look at exports from Ukraine and the import needs of the European Union, they fit together like a puzzle. Together, this system works more efficiently. It is not about competition, but about forming a common, more stable structure in which Ukraine and Europe complement each other,” said Yevgeny Osypov, CEO of Kernel, during his participation in the panel discussion “Deepening cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in strategic sectors”, which took place within the Ukraine House Davos at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
