UNICA: Ethanol Production, Sales Continue To Trend Higher In Late June
UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, reported a significant increase in sugarcane processing and ethanol production during the latter half of June. Mills in Brazil’s south-central region processed 48.8 million metric tons of sugarcane, a 12.99% increase compared to last year. Ethanol production reached 2.31 billion liters, with hydrous ethanol up 32.84% and anhydrous ethanol up 1.06%. Ethanol sales for June rose 10.95%, driven by a 27.84% increase in hydrous ethanol sales, while anhydrous ethanol sales dropped 10.02%.

UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has announced that sugarcane processing and ethanol production were both up during the second half of June. Ethanol sales were also up for the full month.
Mills in the south-central region of Brazil processed 48.8 million metric tons of sugarcane during the second half of June, up 12.99% when compared to the same period of last year. Total sugarcane processing since the beginning of the current harvest season, which began April 1, reached 238.4 million metric tons, up 13.27% when compared to the same period of the previous harvest season.
Mills in the region produced 2.31 billion liters (610.24 million gallons) of ethanol during the second half of June. Production included 1.42 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, up 32.84%, and 887.96 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 1.06%. Corn ethanol accounted for 299.58 million liters, or 13% of total production during the two-week period, up 22.7% when compared to the same period of last year.
Total ethanol production since the start of the current harvest season reached 11.02 billion liters, up 13.52%. Production included 7.06 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, up 27.27%, and 3.96 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, down 4.83%. Corn ethanol production was at 1.8 billion liters, up 25.94%.
Mills in the south-central region sold 2.84 billion liters of ethanol in June, up 10.95% when compared to the same month of last year. Hydrous ethanol sales were at 1.81 billion liters, up 27.84%, while anhydrous ethanol sales were at 1.03 billion liters, down 10.02%.
Domestic sales for the month included 1.77 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, up 33.95%, and 978.52 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, down 10.1%.
Total ethanol sales since the beginning of the current harvest season reached 8.65 billion liters, up 22.135 when compared to the same period of last year. Sales included 5.67 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, up 42.99%, and 2.98 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, down 4.36%.
