UNICA: Ethanol Production, Sales Up In Early November
UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has announced sugarcane processing was up during the first half of November. Ethanol production and sales were also up when compared to the same period of 2022.
Mills in the south-central region of Brazil processed 34.77 million tons of sugarcane during the first half of November, up 32.09 percent when compared to the same period of last year. Total sugarcane processing since the start of the current harvest season, which began April 1, reached 595.4 million tons, up 14.99 percent when compared to the same period of 2022.
Mills in the region produced 1.64 billion liters (433.24 million gallons) of ethanol during the first half of November, up 28.92 percent when compared to the same two-week period of last year. Production included 989.05 million liters of hydrous ethanol, up 65.18 percent, and 648.76 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, down 3.41 percent. Corn ethanol accounted for 279.8 million liters, or 17 percent, of total production, up 48.21 percent when compared to the same period of last year.
Total ethanol production since the start of the current harvest season reached 28.26 billion liters, up 10.95 percent. Production included 16.93 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, up 12.55 percent, and 11.68 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 8.69 percent. Corn ethanol accounted for 3.79 billion liters of production, up 42.8 percent.
Mills in the south-central region sold 1.26 billion liters of ethanol during the first half of November, up 10.83 percent when compared to the same period of last year. Sales included 775.76 million liters of hydrous ethanol, up 21.01 percent, and 486.43 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, down 2.28 percent. Domestic sales included 764.65 million liters of hydrous ethanol, up 19.94 percent, and 455.8 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, down 2.45 percent.
Total sales since the beginning of the current harvest season reached 19.48 billion liters, up 4.75 percent. Sales of hydrous ethanol reached 11.46 billion liters, up 5.52 percent, while sales of anhydrous ethanol reached 8.02 billion liters, up 3.67 percent.
