UNICA: Ethanol sales down in November
In November 2025, Brazil’s South-Central mills processed 15.99 million tons of sugarcane, down from 20.27 million tons last year. Ethanol production since April reached 29.53 billion liters, down 5.4%, with hydrous ethanol falling 7.9% and anhydrous down 1.2%. Corn ethanol rose 15.1%. Total ethanol sales fell 2.4% to 23.32 billion liters.
UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has released data showing sugarcane processing was down during the second half of November. Ethanol sales for the full month were also down when compared to November 2024.
Mills in the south-central region of Brazil processed 15.99 million metric tons of sugarcane during the second half of November, down when compared to the 20.27 million metric tons processed during the same period of the previous year.
Sugarcane processing since the start of the current harvest season, which began April 1, 2025, reached 592.27 million metric tons, down 1.92% when compared to the same period of the previous harvest season.
Mills in the region processed 1.18 billion liters (311.72 million gallons) of ethanol during the first half of November. Production included 727.41 million liters of hydrous ethanol, down 7.41% when compared to the same period of the previous year, and 457.11 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 10.21%. Corn ethanol accounted for 374.82 million liters, or 31.64% of production, down 0.12% when compared to the same period of last year.
Total ethanol production since the start of the current harvest season reached 29.53 billion liters, down 5.43%. Production included 18.33 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, down 7.86%, and 11.2 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, down 1.15%. Corn ethanol accounted for 6.03 billion liters of production, up 15.1%.
Mills in the south-central region sold 2.47 billion liters of ethanol in November. Sales included 1.07 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 2.42%, and 1.63 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, down 13.78%.
Domestic sales for November included 1.58 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, down 11.14%, and 1.05 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 7.6%.
Total ethanol sales since the beginning of the current harvest season reached 23.32 billion liters, down 2.41%. Sales included 14.53 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, down 6.1%, and 8.79 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 4.39%.
