UP continues to maintain first position in sugarcane production: Minister
Surya Pratap Shahi, UP agriculture minister, highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s consistent top position in food production and sugarcane over the past seven years during the Kharif productivity seminar-2024 in Varanasi. The event, encompassing Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Vindhyachal divisions, aimed to ensure ample food grain supply for the growing population. Shahi emphasized the need for action plans to enhance farmers’ economic well-being, underscoring the importance of agricultural seminars in achieving these goals at Padma Vibhushan Girija Devi Cultural Complex, Chowkaghat.
Varanasi: For the last seven years, Uttar Pradesh has maintained the first position in food production and in sugarcane, said UP agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi, reported The Times of India.
He was speaking at a joint divisional Kharif productivity seminar-2024 organised on Monday. The seminar was organised for Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Vindhyachal divisions at Padma Vibhushan Girija Devi Cultural Complex, Chowkaghat.
While presiding over the seminar, the minister stated that the aim behind organizing such seminars is to make food grains available to ever-increasing populations, and further action plans are needed to improve the economic condition of farmers.
