UP: Farmers come up with unique way to scare monkeys away from sugarcane fields in Lakhimpur

Coming up with a unique way to safeguard their sugarcane crops from the monkeys, the farmers in UP’s Lakhimpur are using bear costumes. With aim to scare the monkeys away, the farmers contributed part of their earnings to buy the costume. Donning the costume, a man was seen sitting near the crops, giving an impression of being a real bear to the monkeys. Briefing on the situation, they also informed of lack of actions by the authorities over the matter. Lakhimpur Divisional Forest Officer on the other hand, expressed his sympathy with the famers and extended his support towards them. “40 to 45 monkeys are roaming in the area and damaging the crops.
