UP government approves revival plan for new sugar mill in Baghpat
Uttar Pradesh government approved a revised plan for a new sugar mill in Baghpat and doubling the Kisan Sahkari Chini Mill’s capacity to 5,000 TPD. The ₹407-crore project will be funded through state equity and loans, with modern equipment enabling faster cane processing.
Lucknow: The state government on Friday cleared a revised plan for setting up a new sugar mill in Baghpat. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Project Formulation and Evaluation Division, which was chaired by Chief Secretary S.P. Goyal. The Times of India reported.
At the same meeting, the government also approved a proposal to double the crushing capacity of the Kisan Sahkari Chini Mill in Baghpat. The mill’s capacity will be increased from the existing 2,500 tonnes per day to 5,000 tonnes per day.
The total cost of the project has been estimated at about Rs 407 crore. The state government will provide half of the share capital and extend a loan to cover the remaining amount.
As part of the upgrade, modern equipment will be installed, allowing the mill to process 5,000 tonnes of sugarcane within an average operating time of 22 hours.
