UP: Sugar mills in Muzaffarnagar receive cane allocation for new crushing season

Sugar mills in Muzaffarnagar have received their cane allocations for the new crushing season, with Khatauli mill getting the highest quota. Four new purchasing centers have been set up to ease supply, including one in Luhsana to resolve disputes in the Bhainsana region near Budhana mill.

Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh: The sugar mills in Muzaffarnagar have received their sugarcane allocation for the upcoming crushing season. Among the mills, the Khatauli sugar mill has been allocated the highest quantity of sugarcane. In a move to facilitate smooth supply, four new purchasing centers have been established this year. Farmers from Meerut, Shamli, and Baghpat will also be contributing to the sugarcane supply in the district, reported Amar Ujala.

The allocation process was completed after carefully assessing the potential sugarcane production for the season. The crushing capacity of each sugar mill and the number of operational days in the previous season were also taken into account. As a result, Khatauli sugar mill secured the top position, followed by Tikola sugar mill in second place, and Titavi sugar mill in third.

Interestingly, the Rohanakalan sugar mill received the lowest sugarcane allocation this year. In response to farmers’ requests, new purchasing centers will be established in the villages of Peenna, Kheri Dudhadhari, and Nangla Pithora, all of which fall within the Titavi sugar mill’s operational area.

Furthermore, in light of ongoing disputes in the Bhainsana region near the Budhana sugar mill, a new purchasing center has been approved for the village of Luhsana. The move comes after tensions arose in the area due to narrow lanes, which often led to supply-related conflicts. The new center will address these issues by providing a more accessible point for sugarcane supply.
