US wheat shipment worth $15m arrives in Nigeria as bilateral trade fortifies
Nigeria has received a 50,000-ton US wheat shipment, reinforcing its position as the third-largest global market for American wheat. The delivery supports Flour Mills of Nigeria’s production needs and strengthens food supply chains. US-Nigeria agricultural trade is expanding rapidly, expected to surpass $700 million in 2025, boosting industry and food security.
The US Mission in Nigeria said the country remains the third-largest market globally for American wheat exports, a position reinforced by the latest 50,000 metric-ton consignment.
The delivery was inspected by US Consul General Rick Swart and US Agricultural Counsellor Chris Bielecki, who visited the port to observe the unloading process.
The wheat was purchased by Flour Mills of Nigeria, one of the country’s leading food processors and a long-standing buyer of US grain.
Over the years, the relationship between the two countries has continued to yield mutual gains. Agricultural trade helps American farmers reach new markets while creating jobs in Nigeria through value-added processing.
Shipments such as this strengthen the supply chain for food producers and ensure Nigerian consumers have access to reliable, high-quality ingredients.
Flour Mills of Nigeria relies heavily on imported wheat to support its production of flour, pasta, and other staples consumed nationwide.
