USDA: Corn Use For Ethanol Production Up In March
In the latest USDA report, March saw a notable surge in corn fuel ethanol production, with a total of 522 million bushels of corn consumed, marking a 5% increase from February and a 7% rise from March 2023. Dry milling fuel production dominated at 92.2%, while wet milling stood at 7.8%. Distillers dried grains production rose across the board, with condensed distillers with solubles hitting 84,812 tons and corn oil production reaching 186,501 tons.
The USDA recently released its Grain Crushings and Co-Products Production report for May, reporting corn fuel ethanol production in March was up when compared to both the previous month and the same month of last year.
Toral corn consumed for alcohol and other purposes was 522 million bushels in March, up 5% when compared to February and up 7% from March of last year.
Corn consumed for fuel alcohol production reached 469 million bushels in March, up 5% from the previous month and up 7% when compared to March 2023. Corn consumed for dry milling fuel production and wet milling fuel production was 92.2% and 7.8%, respectively.
At dry mills, condensed distillers with solubles production reached 84,812 tons in March, up from 78,910 tons in February and 81,415 tons in March 2023. Corn oil production reached 186,5001 tons, up from 174,864 tons the previous month and 177,019 tons in March of last year. Distillers dried grains production was at 394,388 tons, up from both 371,639 tons in February and 387,438 tons in March 2023. Distillers dried grains with solubles production reached 1.93 million tons, up from 1.81 million tons the previous month and 1.71 million tons the same month of last year. Distillers wet grains production was at 1.22 million tons, up from 1.17 million tons in February, but down from 1.3 million tons in March 2023. Modified distillers wet grains production was at 459,800 tons, up from 456,737 tons in February, but down from 505,762 tons in March of last year.
At wet mills, corn germ meal production was at 53,606 tons in March, down from 58,546 tons in February, but up from 48,872 tons in March of last year. Corn gluten feed production was at 270,230 tons, up from 254,386 tons the previous month, but down from 292,483 tons in March 2023. Corn gluten meal production was at 116,910 tons, up from 112,564 tons the previous month, but down from 117,550 tons during the same month of last year. Wet corn gluten feed production expanded to 214,038 tons, up from 207,421 tons in February and 187,120 tons in March of last year.
At wet and dry mills, carbon dioxide captured was at 211,809 tons in March, up from 206,229 tons in February, but down from 213,846 tons in March 2023.
