USDA: Corn Use For Fuel Ethanol Production At 492 Million Tons In February
The USDA’s March report indicates increased corn use for fuel ethanol in February, up 11% from last year. Distillers solubles production slightly decreased, while corn oil and distillers dried grains production rose. Carbon dioxide captured also increased compared to last year. Dry milling dominated fuel production with 92.4% corn consumption, while wet milling accounted for 7.6%. Various co-products like corn germ meal and corn gluten feed saw production increases across both types of mills.
The USDA recently released its Grain Crushings and Co-Products Production Report for March, reporting that corn use for fuel ethanol production in February was up when compared to both the previous month and February 2023.
Total corn consumed for alcohol and other uses was 492 million bushels in February, up 2% when compared to January and up 11% when compared to February of the previous year.
Corn consumed for fuel alcohol production reached 442 million bushels in February, up slightly from the previous month and up 11% when compared to February 2023. Corn consumed for dry milling fuel production and wet milling fuel production was 92.4% and 7.6%, respectively.
At dry mills, condensed distillers solubles production was at 84,730 tons in February, down from 93,349 tons the previous month, but up from 77,506 tons in February of last year.
