USDA: Corn use for fuel ethanol production at 519 million bushels in November
US corn use for fuel ethanol in November rose slightly year-on-year despite a marginal monthly decline, USDA data showed. Total corn use reached 519 million bushels, with 93% for alcohol. Co-product output was mixed, while carbon dioxide capture increased compared with November last year.
Corn consumed for fuel ethanol production in November was up slightly when compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Services’ latest Grain Crushings and Co-Products Production report.
Total corn consumed for alcohol and other uses was at 519 million bushels in November, down 1% when compared to the previous month and down slightly when compared to November 2024. Usage included 93% for alcohol and 7% for other purposes.
Corn consumed for fuel alcohol reached 472 million bushels in November, down 1% when compared to October, but up slightly when compared to November of the previous year. Corn consumed for dry milling fuel production and wet milling fuel production was 92% and 8%, respectively.
At dry mills, condensed distillers solubles production was at 110,140 tons in November, up from 108,631 tons in October, but down from 116,335 tons in November 2024. Corn oil production was at 205,952 tons, down from 219,763 tons the previous month, but up from 201,882 tons in November of the previous year. Distillers dried grains production was at 384,904 tons, down from 390,774 tons in October, but up from 381,785 tons in November 2024. Distillers dried grains with solubles production fell to 1.75 million tons, down from both 1.93 million tons in October and 1.84 million tons in November of the previous year. Distillers wet grains production reached 1.26 million tons, up from 1.24 million tons the previous month and 1.25 million tons in November 2024. Modified distillers wet grains production expanded to 496,923 tons, up from 450,151 tons in October and 432,980 tons in November 2024.
At wet mills, corn germ meal production was at 58,737 tons in November, up slightly when compared to the 58,194 tons produced the previous month and the 58,717 tons produced in November of the previous year. Corn gluten feed production was at 251,463 tons, up from 58,194 tons in October, but down from 258,388 tons in November 2024. Corn gluten meal production fell to 101,753 tons, down from both 103,810 tons in October and 107,598 tons in November of the previous year. Wet corn gluten feed production fell to 186,284 tons, down from 189,128 tons the previous month and 219,853 tons in November 2024.
At dry and wet mills, carbon dioxide captured reached 226,918 tons in November, down from 254,508 tons in October, but up from 219,971 tons in November 2024.
