The USDA Economic Research Service projects U.S. ethanol exports to hit \$4.5 billion in FY 2025, up from \$4.3 billion forecast earlier and nearly 9% higher than FY 2024. For FY 2026, exports are expected to remain at \$4.5 billion, signaling stable demand in global ethanol markets.

The USDA Economic Research Service on Aug. 28 released its latest quarterly trade outlook report, announcing the agency now expects the value of fiscal year (FY) 2025 ethanol exports to reach $4.5 billion, up from the May outlook of $4.3 billion.

FY 2025 began on Oct. 1, 2024, and ends Sept. 30, 2025. If realized, the $4.5 billion in FY 2025 ethanol exports would be up nearly 9% when compared to $4.144 billion in ethanol exports reported for FY 2024.

The Aug. 28 report also includes the USDA’s initial projection for FY 2026 ethanol exports. The agency currently predicts the value of U.S. ethanol exports will also reach $4.5 billion, for FY 2026, which begins Oct. 1, 2025, and ends Sept. 30, 2026.

For the nine-month period beginning Oct. 1, 2024, and ending June 30, 2025, the value of U.S. ethanol exports reached $3.472 billion, up nearly 10% when compared to the $3.125 billion in exports reported for the nine-month period beginning Oct. 1, 2023, and ending June 30, 2024.
