USDA: US Ethanol Exports Top 102 Million Gallons In August
The U.S. exported 102.26 million gallons of ethanol and 947,326 metric tons of distillers grains in August, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Oct. 5. Exports of both products were down when compared to the previous month.
The 102.26 million gallons of ethanol exported in August was down when compared to the 113.36 million gallons of ethanol exported the previous month, but up when compared to the 80.02 million gallons exported in August of last year.
The U.S. exported ethanol to nearly 30 countries in August. Canada was the top destination for U.S. ethanol exports at 62.42 million gallons, followed by the U.K. at 13.53 million gallons and Colombia at 10.71 million gallons.
The value of U.S. ethanol exports reached $278.41 million in August, down from $313.14 million in July, but up from $239.87 million in August 2022.
Total ethanol exports for the first eight months of 2023 reached 920.52 million gallons at a value of $2.51 billion, compared to 985.23 million gallons exported during the same period of last year at a value of $2.74 billion.
The 947,326 metric tons of distillers grains exported in August was down when compared to both the 993,018 metric tons exported in July and the 952,462 metric tons exported in August 2022.
The U.S. exported distillers grains to more than three dozen countries in August. Mexico was the top destination for U.S. distillers grains exports at 234,674 metric tons, followed by Vietnam at 131,232 metric tons and Indonesia at 87,015 metric tons.
The value of U.S. distillers grains exports reached $271.65 million in August, down from $297.58 million the previous month and $308.82 million in August of last year.
Total distillers grains exports for the first eight months of this year reached 7.06 million metric tons at a value of $2.25 billion, compared to 7.67 million metric tons exported during the same period of 2022 at a value of $2.34 billion.
