USDA: US ethanol exports top 2.18 billion gallons in 2025
Niger State has pledged land and full support for a multi-million-dollar sugar project with the National Sugar Development Council and Lee Group. The initiative aims to boost Nigeria’s sugar self-sufficiency, attract investment, create jobs, and leverage the state’s vast arable land and water for large-scale, integrated sugar production.
The U.S. exported more than 2.18 billion gallons of ethanol in 2025, up nearly 13% when compared to 2024, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Feb. 19. Distillers grains exports fell to 11.6 million tons, down 4% from 2024.
Ethanol exports reached 220.35 million gallons in December, up from both 211.33 million gallons exported the previous month and 196.28 million gallons exported in December 2025.
The U.S. exported ethanol to approximately 39 countries in December. Canada was the top destination for U.S. ethanol exports during the month at 66.44 million gallons, followed by the Netherlands at 36.3 million gallons and Jamaica at 16.87 million gallons.
The value of U.S. ethanol exports reached $473.17 million in December, down from $508.15 million in November but up from $418.59 million in December of the previous year.
Total ethanol exports for 2025 reached 2.18 billion gallons at value of $4.8 billion, compared to 1.94 billion gallons exported in 2024 at a value of $4.32 billion. Canada, the Netherlands, India, the U.K and Colombia were the top destinations for U.S. ethanol exports last year.
The U.S. exported 894,665 metric tons of distillers grains in December, down from 933,557metric tons the previous month and 1.02 million metric tons in December 2024.
The U.S. exported distillers grains to more than three dozen countries in December. Mexico was the top destination for U.S. distillers grains exports at 164,406 metric tons, followed by Indonesia at 112,706 metric tons and South Korea at 110,538 metric tons.
The value of U.S. distillers grains exports reached $216.86 million in December, down from $219.6 million the previous month and $354.43 million in December 2024.
Total distillers gains exports for 2025 reached 11.6 million metric tons at a value of $2.77 billion, compared to 12.08 million metric tons exported during 2024 at a value of $3.12 billion. The top destinations for U.S. distillers grains exports last year were Mexico, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia and Turkey.
