USDA: US ethanol exports top 212 million gallons in January
U.S. ethanol exports reached 212.07 million gallons in January, slightly lower than December but higher than a year earlier, with Canada, Brazil, and the Netherlands as top buyers. Distillers grains exports also rose to 1.01 million tonnes, led by demand from Mexico, South Korea, and Colombia, reflecting stronger global feed demand.
The U.S. exported 212.07 million gallons of ethanol and 1.01 million metric tons of distillers grains in January, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on March 12. Exports of both products were up when compared to January 2025.
The 212.07 million gallons of ethanol exported in January was down slightly when compared to the 220.35 million gallons exported the previous month, but up when compared to the 198.05 million gallons exported in January of the previous year.
The U.S. exported ethanol to more than 40 countries in January. Canada was the top destination for U.S. ethanol exports at 69.96 million gallons, followed by Brazil at 36.4 million gallons and the Netherlands at 33.4 million gallons.
The value of U.S. ethanol export reached $475.83 million in January, up slightly from $473.17 million in December and up when compared to the $420.12 million reported for January 2025.
The 1.01 million metric tons of distillers grains exported in January was up when compared to the 894,655 metric tons exported the previous month and the 881,480 metric tons exported in January of the previous year.
The U.S. exported distillers grains to more than three dozen countries in January. Mexico was the top destination for U.S. distillers grains exports at 226,324 metric tons, followed by South Korea at 120,911 metric tons and Colombia at 104,959 metric tons.
The value of U.S. distillers grains exports reached $248.84 million in January, up from $216.86 million in December and $195.93 million in January 2025.
