Uttar Pradesh: Bijnor leads Moradabad Division in sugarcane yield

Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh achieved the highest sugarcane yield in Moradabad division at 886.92 quintals per hectare, reaffirming its leadership in sugarcane farming. With 2.76 lakh hectares under cultivation and ten operational mills, Bijnor outperformed districts like Sambhal (860.64) and Moradabad (774.44). Officials credited farmer dedication for the district’s record-breaking performance and agricultural strength.

Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: Bijnor district has set a new record in sugarcane production, securing the highest yield in Moradabad division. The district reported an impressive output of 886.92 quintals per hectare, the best in the division. On the other hand, Moradabad district recorded the lowest yield at 774.44 quintals per hectare, reported Amar Ujala.

Sugarcane is widely grown in Bijnor, with around 2.76 lakh hectares of land dedicated to its cultivation. The district also has the highest number of sugar mills in the region, with ten mills currently in operation. For local farmers, sugarcane is a key crop that influences both the economy and local politics.

Each year, Bijnor ranks among the top districts in sugarcane production, and this year’s crop cutting results have once again placed it at the forefront.

According to officials from the Sugarcane Department, the latest crop cutting figures confirm Bijnor’s top position in the division. “Bijnor has performed exceptionally well this season. The yield has been higher than all other districts in the division,” an official said.

Following Bijnor, Sambhal reported a yield of 860.64 quintals per hectare. Amroha came next with 815.08 quintals, followed by Rampur at 794.72 quintals. Moradabad, which gave the division its name, had the lowest yield at 774.44 quintals per hectare.

“Farmers in Bijnor have put in a lot of hard work, and the results speak for themselves. This shows the strength of sugarcane farming in the district,” another local agriculture official said.

Bijnor’s consistent performance highlights its importance as a key sugarcane-growing district in western Uttar Pradesh.
