Uttar Pradesh: BKU (Apolitical) demands hike in cane price to Rs 450 per quintal

Farmers from the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Apolitical) gathered at Nahtaur block office to demand an increase in sugarcane prices to Rs 450 per quintal and timely payments from Bilai sugar mill. They also urged authorities to move stray animals to shelters. The farmers will conduct a public outreach program ahead of a major conference in Prayagraj from January 27 to 29.

Nahtaur: Members of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Apolitical) convened at the Nahtour block office on Wednesday to voice their concerns about the prevailing sugarcane prices. The farmers have demanded a substantial hike, urging the government to set the rate at Rs 450 per quintal.

They have called for timely payments from the Bilai sugar mill and have demanded that stray animals be moved to designated cattle shelters.

As part of their ongoing campaign, the farmers have decided to launch a public outreach program to mobilize support for a larger farmers’ conference scheduled to take place in Prayagraj from January 27 to 29.

The meeting was presided over by Block President Chaudhary Tejveer Singh and conducted by Block General Secretary Chaudhary Dharmveer Singh.

Notable attendees included Sanjeev Kumar, Yashpal Singh, Tikam Singh, Neeraj Kumar, Shravan Kumar, Mohit Kumar, Rajveer Singh, Dinesh Kumar, Lalit Kumar, and Kuldeep Singh.
