Uttar Pradesh Proves It’s Solar Ready As Lucknow Hosts Solar Trailblazers Event

Friday, July 5 was a big day on the solar calendar for Uttar Pradesh, as multiple solar leaders collected in the state capital to brainstorm the way ahead for Uttar Pradesh to occupy a deserving place in India’s solar states.
Graced by the Deputy Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh Shri Brajesh Pathak as Chief Guest, the Solar Trailblazers event brought together key policy makers, influencers, EPC’s and industry players to focus on the challenges and opportunities in the state. The famous Solar Trailblazers awards were also given, to institutions that have opened up the solar pathway for others to follow.
In his special address, Deputy Chief Minister Pathak stressed on the need to ensure that the benefits of solar truly reach the common man, by ensuring faster approvals and the reach of solar to the hinterland areas of the state.
Lucknow MLC Awanish Kumar Singh shared his plans to ensure solar installations in over 1500 schools in the next few months, to ensure not just a greener future but also cost savings for these institutions on their energy bills.
Interestingly, Singh also called on solar firms to market solar not as a cost saving opportunity, but as a money making opportunity to change the narrative around solar and attract more participation from entrepreneurs and consumers alike to the sector.
Mr Tariq Hasan Naqvi, Director at Hikmaa Energies, besides Member Advisory Committee Industrial Development. Govt. Of UP, Chairman – National Solar & Bio- Energy Committee, IIA also graced the event with a special address where he highlighted the many positives UP had managed, and the policy direction needed to build on the momentum.
For SaurEnergy. Group Editor and Director Prasanna Singh stressed on how UP being at the forefront of the next phase of solar growth was not just desirable for the state, but a necessity for the country as a whole.
Panel discussions through the day covered issues as relevant as ensuring this phase of solar was a success in Uttar Pradesh, besides the impact of storage, hybrid and other technologies in spreading solar faster. Featuring experts from across the industry, including firms like OMC Power, Husk Power, Adani Solar and thinktanks like the Vasudha Foundation that have extensive experience in the state, special focus was also provided on rooftop potential and the opportunity for jobs in the sector.
AIIMS Gorakhpur, Integral University and Maheshwari Mining & Energy were awarded for adopting solar to reduce their carbon footprint, and encourage many others to follow in their footsteps in the state.
