Uttar Pradesh: Rs 2,72,600 crore paid as sugarcane payment to farmers from 2017 till now, says CM Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honored the late RLD chief Chaudhary Ajit Singh by unveiling his statue in Baghpat. He highlighted the government’s efforts for sugarcane farmers, revealing Rs. 2.72 lakh crore in cane dues paid since 2017. CM Adityanath assured continued support, with 99.51% of payments for 2023-24 completed. The government is also improving sugar mill efficiency and addressing delayed payments.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday honoured the legacy of late RLD chief Chaudhary Ajit Singh by unveiling his statue at the Shri Vidhya Mandir Inter College in Baghpat.

Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi Adityanath spoke about the government’s efforts towards sugarcane farmers, particularly in relation to cane prices. He proudly stated that since 2017, a total of Rs. 2,72,600 crore has been paid as cane dues to farmers. He further highlighted that for the year 2023-24, 99.51% of the cane payments have already been completed.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the government remains committed to supporting sugarcane farmers. “Every penny of the sugarcane price will reach the farmers’ accounts. If not, the government will take control of the sugar mills,” he declared. He assured that all sugar mills would be run efficiently. Under his leadership, three new sugar mills have been established, and eight existing mills have been expanded. Furthermore, 105 out of the 120 sugar mills in the state are now paying cane dues within 7 to 10 days. For the 15 mills that are slightly delayed in payment, efforts are being made to ensure timely payments.

The event marked a significant stride in Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to the welfare of farmers and the growth of the state’s agricultural and industrial sectors.
