Uttar Pradesh: Team from Maharashtra visits sugar mill, offers farming tips to local sugarcane growers

A 15-member farmer delegation from Maharashtra, led by NFCSF President Harshvardhan Patil, visited the DCM Shriram Ajabapur Sugar Mill. They shared insights on deep plowing, seed treatment, and soil testing to enhance sugarcane cultivation. The team also promoted intercropping with moong, urad, groundnut, and sunflower for higher income. Their visit included a tour of the mill’s distillery, where they were welcomed by senior officials. This initiative aimed to promote modern farming techniques and boost productivity.

A team of 15 farmers from Maharashtra, led by Harshvardhan Patil, President of the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories Limited (NFCSF), visited the DCM Shriram Ajabapur Sugar Mill on Tuesday. The team toured the sugarcane fields in the region, observing the sugarcane crop and offering valuable farming advice to local farmers, reported Live Hindustan.

During the visit, the team shared crucial insights on sugarcane cultivation, advising farmers to plow the fields deeply to ensure proper root development. They emphasized the importance of seed treatment before planting and recommended continuous soil testing to ensure the crops receive the necessary nutrients.

Additionally, the team encouraged farmers to increase their income by practicing intercropping, suggesting crops such as moong, urad, groundnut, and sunflower alongside sugarcane.

Following the field visit, the team also toured the sugar mill’s distillery. The team was welcomed by unit head Prabhat Kumar Singh, sugarcane head Harendra Tripathi, and other mill staff, including A. Siddiqui, Ramesh Verma, Ramnaresh, Avdhesh, and Amit Rathore.

This collaborative visit aimed to promote modern farming practices and enhance sugarcane cultivation techniques in the region.
