Will India resume export of non-basmati rice? Decision likely this week

India’s rice export ban in July 2023 aimed to stabilize domestic prices. In 2022, India exported 22.2 million tonnes of rice, with 17.86 million tonnes being non-basmati. Major rice-producing states include Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh. Key importers of Indian rice are Malaysia, Singapore, Djibouti, Qatar, and Iraq.
