22 LMT monthly sugar quota released for July 2026; same as July 2025

India’s Food Ministry allocated a July 2026 sugar sales quota of 22 lakh metric tonnes (LMT), unchanged from July 2025 but lower than June 2026’s 22.5 LMT. Market experts expect stable prices, attributing the reduced allocation to weaker sugar demand during the rainy season.

In an announcement on June 24, the Food Ministry allocated a monthly sugar quota of 22 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) for July 2026, which is equal to the quota allocated for July 2025.

In July 2025, the government had allocated a monthly sugar quota of 22 LMT for domestic sale. For June 2026, the allocation of sugar quota was 22.5 LMT.

According to market experts, with the announcement of 22 LMT, the market is likely to remain stable. The lower amount of sugar allocation by the Government for July 2026 compared to the previous month is keeping in mind that the sugar demand is likely to remain lower amid rainy season, stated the experts. Last year, in June, sugar consumption was 23 LMT.
