Grain Scam: Six mills supplying substandard rice blacklisted, District Collector’s bang..
Gadchiroli : The first action has finally taken place in the long-running rice scam, with six mills blacklisted for supplying substandard rice to the public distribution system. Collector Sanjay Meena issued an order in this regard. This action has revealed the shocking fact that inferior quality rice is being dumped on the common man.
Dutt Rice Mill Kunghada T. Chamorshi, Me. Mr. Dutt Rice Mill Koregaon Dist.Desaiganj, Me. Dange Rice Mill Desaiganj, Me. Maheshwari Agro Industries Amirza District Gadchiroli, May. Sai Rice Mill Pandevahi Ta. Etapally, May. The names of the rice mills which have been operated are Wainganga Rice Mill Ashti T. Chamorshi. Sub Divisional Officer (Revenue) Gadchiroli raided the godown of Public Distribution System on 14 August 2023.
He took samples of the rice shipped by the mills. It was sent to a laboratory in Nagpur for examination. It found that the rice was of lighter quality than the standard quantity. Therefore, the laboratory has sent a report that it is unfit for consumption. According to the Essential Commodities Act 1980/1955 Section 3 (1) and its amendments 2020 and also as per the Central Government’s letter dated 16th July 2021, these six rice mills have been blacklisted for three years.
