UP government fixes MSP for maize, bajra and jowar; procurement to continue till December 31

Uttar Pradesh will procure maize, bajra and jowar under Kharif Marketing Year 2026-27 until December 31, targeting 15,000, 2.20 lakh and 50,000 tonnes, respectively. MSPs range from ₹2,410 to ₹4,073 per quintal, with payments promised within 48 hours directly into farmers’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh will continue procuring maize, bajra, and jowar for the Kharif Marketing Year 2026-27 until December 31. Under the procurement plan, the state will purchase bajra in 33 districts, maize in 25 districts, and jowar in 13 districts.

The government has proposed a procurement target of 2.20 lakh metric tonnes for bajra, 50,000 metric tonnes for jowar and 15,000 metric tonnes for maize.

The minimum support price has been fixed at Rs 4,073 per quintal for Maldandi jowar and Rs 4,023 per quintal for hybrid jowar. Bajra will be procured at an MSP of Rs 2,900 per quintal, while the MSP for maize has been set at Rs 2,410 per quintal.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure that farmers receive payment within 48 hours.

Payment directly into farmers’ accounts

According to Food and Logistics Minister Manoj Kumar Pandey, payment will be transferred directly to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of farmers. Farmers can seek assistance through the toll-free number 1800-180-0150. They can also contact the District Food Marketing Officer, Regional Marketing Officer or Marketing Inspector for help.

To prevent the role of middlemen and maintain transparency, procurement at purchase centres will continue through e-PoP, or Electronic Point of Purchase devices. Farmers will have to complete biometric verification before selling their produce.

Maize procurement in 25 districts

Maize will be procured in Bulandshahr, Badaun, Hardoi, Unnao, Mainpuri, Agra, Firozabad, Aligarh, Etah, Kasganj, Hathras, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Etawah, Auraiya, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Bahraich, Gonda, Deoria, Ballia, Jaunpur, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra and Lalitpur.

Bajra procurement in 33 districts

Bajra procurement will take place in Bulandshahr, Rampur, Sambhal, Amroha, Bareilly, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Aligarh, Etah, Kasganj, Hathras, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Etawah, Farrukhabad, Auraiya, Kannauj, Ballia, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Jalaun, Chitrakoot and Hamirpur.

Jowar procurement in 13 districts

Jowar will be procured in Banda, Chitrakoot, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Fatehpur, Unnao, Hardoi, Mirzapur, Jalaun, Jhansi and Firozabad.

Total procurement centres

The government plans to operate 300 procurement centres for bajra, 80 for jowar and 75 for maize.

Procurement targets

Bajra: 2.20 lakh metric tonnes

Jowar: 50,000 metric tonnes

Maize: 15,000 metric tonnes
