U.S. ethanol production and stocks were both lower last week.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 1.011 million barrels a day, the lowest since early October, down 12,000 on the week and 7,000 on the year with some plants operating at reduced schedules because of Thanksgiving.

Iowa State University’s Center for Agricultural and Rural Development says operating margins for the average Iowa plant were nearly unchanged, holding in positive territory.

The Renewable Fuels Association says the domestic supply was 21.379 million barrels, a decline of 273,000 from the a week ago and 1.555 million from a year ago.

Net inputs by refiners and blenders and the volume of gasoline supplied to the market were also lower than the week before.

Ethanol exports averaged 151,000 barrels a day, a jump of 73,000 barrels from the previous week, and the highest since the EIA started reporting weekly export numbers in May.

The USDA’s updated corn for ethanol use projection is out December 8th.
