EIA: Ethanol Production Down 2%; Stocks Down 1%, Exports Up 120%
U.S. fuel ethanol production fell by nearly 2% the week ending April 5, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on April 10. Ethanol stocks were down nearly 1% and exports expanded by 120%.
Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.056 million barrels per day the week ending April 5, down 17,000 barrels per day when compared to the 1.073 million barrels per day of production reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, production for the week ending April 5 was up 97,000 barrels per day.
Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol fell to 26.208 million barrels the week ending April 5, down 208,000 barrels when compared to the 26.416 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending April 5 were up 1.08 million barrels.
Fuel ethanol exports averaged 156,000 barrels per day the week ending April 5, up 85,000 barrels per day when compared to the 71,000 barrels per day of exports reported for the previous week. Data on weekly ethanol exports is not available for the corresponding week of 2023 as the EIA began reporting weekly data on fuel ethanol exports in June 2023. No fuel ethanol imports were reported for the week ending April 5.
