EIA: Ethanol Production Down 3%, Stocks Down 1%, Exports Down 23%

U.S. fuel ethanol production declined by 3% in the week ending April 19, with stocks down 1% and exports falling by 23%, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Production averaged 954,000 barrels per day, the lowest since mid-January. Weekly ending stocks dropped to 25.733 million barrels, while exports averaged 134,000 barrels per day. No fuel ethanol imports were reported for the week ending April 19, according to the data released on April 24.

U.S. fuel ethanol production fell by 3% the week ending April 19, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on April 24. Stocks of fuel ethanol were down 1% and exports fell by 23%.

Fuel ethanol production averaged 954,000 barrels per day the week ending April 19, down 29,000 barrels per day when compared to the 983,000 barrels per day of production reported for the previous week, and the lowest level of production reported since mid-January. When compared to the same week of last year, production for the week ending April 19 was down 13,000 barrels per day. 

Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol fell to 25.733 million barrels the week ending April 19, down 347,000 barrels when compared to the 26.08 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending April 19 were up 1.427 million barrels. 

Fuel ethanol exports averaged 134,000 barrels per day the week ending April 19, down 41,000 barrels per day when compared to the 175,000 barrels per day of exports reported for the previous week. Data on weekly ethanol exports is not available for the corresponding week of 2023 as the EIA began reporting weekly data on fuel ethanol exports in June 2023. No fuel ethanol imports were reported for the week ending April 19.
