No possibility of recent rice price hike
During a parliamentary session, the Food Minister assured stable rice prices due to ample stock and ongoing paddy procurement. The government aims to procure 17 lakh tonnes of rice from farmers, ensuring stability in commodity prices. Majumder emphasized that soaring rice prices are unlikely with the current food stock, reassuring the public of ample rice supply and stable prices amidst ongoing procurement efforts.
“There is no chance of soaring the rice price at this moment as the country has substantial food stock,” he said while responding to a supplementary question during the question – answer session held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair, reports BSS.
In addition to this, Majumder said the country has substantial stock of rice and procurement of Boro paddy has already begun in the country.
Under the programme, the government will procure 17 lakh tonnes of rice from the farmers and the programme has already been inaugurated.
The food minister said the commodity price particularly the rice price is now very much stable as the country has sufficient supply of rice.
