Govt permits to import 49,000 tonnes boiled rice
The government has granted permission to 30 entities and individuals to import a total of 49,000 tonnes of boiled rice (excluding aromatic rice) and 34,000 tonnes of atap rice. This decision was announced through a circular issued by the Ministry of Food on Thursday. Importers are required to sell the rice within Bangladesh by April 25th. Additionally, the imported rice must be marketed in its original sacks and cannot be repackaged under the importers’ names.
The government has allowed 30 organisations and individuals to import 49,000 tonnes of boiled rice (except aromatic rice) and 34,000 tonnes of atap rice into the country.
The Ministry of Food issued a circular in this regard on Thursday.
According to the circular, the importers have to market the rice in Bangladesh by 25 April.
The imported rice cannot be repackaged in the name of the organisations rather must be sold in imported sacks, it added.
