Indian jatha donates flour, rice

Amritsar. An Indian Sikh jatha (group of pilgrims) which is visiting Pakistan on Monday donated around six quintals of rice and flour to Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) for distribution among the poor people of the neighbouring country.
The jatha, led by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SPC), also donated religious books to PSGPC for distribution among gurdwaras of Pakistan.
The jatha had left for Pakistan via Attari international border on Sunday to celebrate the festival of Baisakhi at Gurdwara Panja Sahib.
The devotees had gone to Pakistan under the aegis of various Sikh organisations, including Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Bhai Mardana Yadgiri Kirtan Darbar Society (BMYKDS),
Ferozpur, and more.
BMYKDS president Harpal Singh Bhullar said the society had sent nearly 270 devotees to Pakistan. “Devotees were also carrying other eatables in their respective bags for distribution in Pakistan,” he added. SGPC secretary Partap Singh informed that the PSGPC had requested the committed to send religious literature and 20 saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. “We have sent the religious literature and the decision to send saroops to Pakistan would be taken in the executive meeting of SGPC,” said Partap Singh.
