Karnal: Deadline to deliver custom-milled rice extended to July 31

The Haryana government has extended the deadline for custom-milled rice (CMR) delivery to July 31, from June 30. As of June end, 82% of the rice (6.78 lakh MT) had been delivered to the Food Corporation of India (FCI). Under the revised CMR schedule, millers were required to deliver 60% by March-end, 10% by April-end, 25% by May-end, and 5% by June-end. The original deadline was April-end. The government had allotted 10 lakh MT of paddy to various agencies in Karnal district, with 67% required as CMR, including 1% fortified rice kernel (FRK).
The state government has extended the deadline for the delivery of custom-milled rice (CMR) to July 31. The previous deadline was June 30.
At the end of June, nearly 82 per cent of the rice had been delivered to the Food Corporation of India (FCI), said an official associated with the CMR. Under the CMR policy, each rice miller is required to deliver 67 per cent of the rice against the total allocated paddy. Usually, as per the CMR policy, the millers have to deliver 25 per cent of rice by December-end, an additional 20 per cent by January-end, another 20 per cent by February-end, 25 per-cent by March-end and the remaining 10 per cent by April-end.
In February this year, on the demand of the rice millers, who had faced some issues due to delay in the agreement for the delivery of fortified rice and complications with the linkage of distant godowns to mills via the Wings app for CMR delivery and others, the government revised the CMR schedule.
Under the revised schedule, millers were required to deliver 60 per cent of rice by the end of March, additional 10 per cent by the end of April, further 25 per cent by end of May and the remaining 5 per cent by the end of June.
In Karnal district, different procurement agencies including Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Haryana State Warehousing Corporation and Hafed had allotted nearly 10 lakh MT of paddy. They were required to deliver 6.78 lakh MT as CMR, with 67 per cent of rice against the total allocated paddy with one per cent fortified rice kernel (FRK).
