Bareilly: DM warns action against mill over delay in clearing cane dues

Farmers in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, expressed frustration over pending sugarcane dues at a recent event. Baheri Sugar Mill had promised payments by October, but several farmers reported not receiving their dues. District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar warned that if Rs 40 crore is not paid by the end of the month, an FIR will be filed against the sugar mill officials, and they could face jail time. Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh: Farmers raised the issue of pending cane dues on the occasion of the Farmers event that was held at the auditorium of Vikas Bhawan in Bareilly on Wednesday.

The farmers expressed their frustration, particularly regarding Baheri Sugar Mill, which had promised to make payments to sugarcane farmers in October. Several farmers complained about not receiving their dues.

According to the news report by Amar Ujala, District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar expressed his displeasure and warned that if Rs 40 crore is not paid this month, an FIR will be lodged against the sugar mill officials on behalf of the farmers and they will be sent to jail.
