Sirhind rice millers sign contract, start lifting of paddy

Rice millers in Sirhind have begun lifting procured paddy after signing contracts with the government, following a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Sona Thind. Millers from nearby towns like Amloh, Sanghol, and Khamano had already started, while Bassi Pathana millers are expected to join soon. The DC assured millers that paddy allocation would be based on their preferences, ensuring cooperation from the state government. The procurement process is running smoothly, with no shortage of gunny bags.

After a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Sona Thind, certain rice millers of Sirhind town have signed a contract with the department and started lifting the procured paddy. The rice millers of Amloh, Sanghol and Khamano had already signed the contracts for milling of paddy and started lifting procured paddy. The DC said that the millers of Bassi Pathana would also follow suit soon.

The DC said that a delegation of the millers of Sirhind led by district president Inderjit Singh Sandhu met her and expressed certain concerns regarding milling of paddy. She said that she assured them that the state government was with them and would co-operate and the paddy would be allotted as per their wish and they would not be forced in any manner.

The DC said that the millers agreed and some of them then signed a contract and started lifting procured paddy. Millers of Bassi Pathana have also given an assurance to the administration in this regard. She said that the process for procurement of paddy was going on smoothly and there was no shortage of gunny bags.
