Gov Bago leads team on visit to sugar factories in Brazil

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago recently led a delegation to Brazil to explore sugarcane production techniques. The visit, in collaboration with Uttham Sucrotech International, focused on studying sugar factories and rice mills to enhance Niger State’s sugar production efforts. This follows agreements signed in September 2024 with three companies—Uttham Sucrotech, Rite Foods Ltd, and Legacy Sugar Company Ltd—to establish six sugar mills in the state. The project will involve 110,000 out-growers and also produce ethanol, power, and cattle feed.

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has led a state government delegation to visit several sugar factories in Brazil to study sugarcane production techniques in order to advance the state’s sugar production project.

Accompanied by representatives from Uttham Sucrotech International Company, a sugar production company that recently signed an agreement with the Niger State Government, Governor Bago toured four sugar factories and rice mills in various parts of Brazil. The visit aimed to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of these facilities and gather insights for local implementation.

In September 2024, Niger State entered into agreements with three companies—Uttham Sucrotech International, Rite Foods Ltd, and Legacy Sugar Company Ltd—for the cultivation and production of sugar. This partnership is set to establish six sugar mills across the state.

As part of the agreement, Uttham Sucrotech will also support the initiative by involving 110,000 out-growers and diversifying production to include by-products such as refined ethanol, power generation, and cattle feed.
