Pakistan’s exports to Afghanistan rise 42% after sugar export approval
Pakistan’s exports to Afghanistan have significantly increased, with a 42% rise in the first five months of the fiscal year 2024. In November 2024, exports grew by 17% year-on-year. From July to November 2024, exports totaled $587.87 million, up from $408.8 million during the same period last year. A major contributor to this growth is sugar, with exports to Afghanistan rising by 22.44%, amounting to $138.9 million compared to $5.9 million in the previous year.
Islamabad: Following the approval for the export of sugar, there has been a noticeable increase in Pakistan’s exports to Afghanistan.
According to sources from the Ministry of Commerce, Pakistan’s exports to Afghanistan saw a 42% increase in the first five months of the fiscal year 2024. In November 2024, year-on-year exports to Afghanistan grew by 17%.
The Ministry of Commerce sources revealed that from July to November 2024, Pakistan’s exports to Afghanistan amounted to $587.87 million, compared to $408.8 million during the same period last year.
The sources further indicated that in November 2024, Pakistan’s exports to Afghanistan totaled $128.5 million, up from $110 million in November 2023.
The largest share of exports to Afghanistan during this period was sugar. From July to November 2024, sugar exports to Afghanistan increased by 22.44%. Sugar exports amounted to $138.9 million, compared to just $5.9 million during the same period last year.
