The Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has extended the deadline for the delivery of custom-milled rice (CMR) by the Telangana Government from the 2023 agricultural season to the Central pool till December 15, 2024.

The Ministry directed the State Government to ensure that no CMR of the current marketing season (2024-25) is delivered to the Central pool during the extended deadline to avoid overlapping of the two seasons.

The delivery of the consignments should conform to the specifications announced by the Ministry.

In a letter dated December 9, a top official of the Ministry directed the State to request the Civil Supplies Commissioner of Telangana to keep a tab on recycling rice (rechannelling PDS rice back into the CMR delivery).

It also wanted the officials to conduct age test to check against malpractices.
