Fortified Wheat Flour launched in Bangladesh

Fortified Wheat Flour, enriched with nutrients like Folic Acid, Vitamin B-12, Iron, and Zinc, was launched in Bangladesh on December 19. The product aims to address health concerns, improve immunity, prevent anemia and birth defects, and support children’s brain development. The launch event, held at Hotel Westin in Dhaka, featured officials from Ifad Multi Products and Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (Gain).

Fortified Wheat Flour entry into Bangladesh market was unleashed on December 19 through a launch event jointly organized by Ifad Multi Products Limited and Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (Gain) at Hotel Westin, Dhaka. 

Fortified Wheat Flour (Atta) is enriched with essential nutrients such as Folic Acid, Vitamin B-12, Iron, and Zinc, designed to address the common health concerns and boost overall well-being.

This fortified Wheat Flour promotes stronger bones, improved immunity, enhanced energy, prevents anemia and birth defects and ensures brain development for children, making it a vital addition to the daily diet for Bangladeshi families striving for a healthier lifestyle.

The launch event was graced by SM Ferdaus Alam, director general (Grade-1) of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institute (BSTI) as chief guest, Tanveer Ahmed, vice chairman Ifad Group, Reazul H Chowdhury, group MD, Ifad Group, and Dr Rudaba Khondker, country director of Gain Bangladesh, Dr Sudipta Kumer Mukherjee, associate professor and HOD, Pediatric Neurosurgery, National Institute of Neuroscience & Hospital, Shamsun Naher Mohua, Principal Nutrition Officer & Head of Nutrition, Department of Diet and Nutrition, Birdem.

Senior officials from both Ifad and Gain also attended the event along with members of the media fraternity. 

Earlier, Mahbub Baset COO, Ifad Multi Products and Ashek Mahfuz, portfolio lead, Gain welcomed the guests to the event, followed by brief presentation on food fortification in Bangladesh by Abul Bashar Chowdhury, project manager, Gain.
